maryland but maryland's most powerful doppler radar, you can see now skies have cleared off a little bit. we still have heavy rain out towards hagerstown. some may creep into frederick, maybe even carroll county. what we're really watching is further south, take a look at the lower part of your screen. you see those heavy downpours there across north carolina, extending up into virginia. that cluster of heavy rain on its way to us and so we're going to keep the flood threat going into the evening. 70s, rain still a flood watch through tomorrow morning. and again some of these downpours as they move in out of the south may be pretty heavy. much more on this and a look ahead towards next weekend, coming up. >>> long before the flood warnings and watches came into effect western high school in north baltimore was forced to close because of flooding in the school. workers arrived and found a few rooms damaged from the overnight rains. the damage was minor and they expect to have everything all cleaned up so school can resume tomorrow morning. >>> the other big story, the latest

on maryland alone. -- we want to zoom in a little bit on maryland alone. just show you the moisture streaming across the area. these individual cells that are moving through, some of the potential of producing strong, gusty winds. some of them have produced a thunderstorm warnings, even though we're not saying a lot of thunder or lightning and this at all. these are the areas where the most intense rain is falling. these don't spend a lot of time over any one area, but they do produce a brief downpours of heavy rain, and then you get numerous ones coming up. it is almost too fast to keep track of this stuff. earlier this morning we had a couple that had the potential for producing tornadic activity. all the echoes and signatures on in the clouds indicated that. we have had no reports of tornado activity around, just heavy rain. let's switch to the main computer. at the moment, the only warning or watched in the area is a little box outlined in red, semitransparent. it comes from carroll county, howard county, east to delaware and new jersey. that is a tornado watch the remains in effect until

is one of three suspects involved in that crime. the university of maryland college park is on edge tonight following a string of robberies and assaults. the victims are being attacked by a group. the latest incident happened saturday morning when a student was walking along the road. the student told police he was approached by four individuals, tackled, and robbed. >> we encourage anyone who is traveling here to walk in pairs. let someone know where you are going. >> police have launched a community campaign alerting the public and students of the potential dangers of walking around between 2:00 a.m. and 4 black a.m. -- 4:00 a.m. the man is recovering after nearly being buried alive. a trench collapsed on the man yesterday in district heights. to coerce or able to dig out his upper body, but it took several -- co-workers were able to dig out his upper body, but it took several firefighters to get him free. the scene -- the car was engulfed in flames and completely off the road. the whole thing was captured on the dashcam. despite the explosions, they were able to pull a 56-year-ol
